U17s Win Herts League Semi Final!

On a freezing afternoon at West Herts today, our U17s reached the U17 Herts League Final with a convincing 51 run win!

We won the toss and batted first. After an early loss, Murray Davidson (24) and Will Cutlan-Smyth (19) put on a good partnership with both lads playing some excellent shots before both being caught out. Aidan Murphy (51*) and Olly Hartnell (46) then combined for an outstanding 102 run partnership as we ran West Herts ragged. Both players hit a big straight 6 each, as well as multiple boundaries. Aidan retired for a rapid 51* off 30 balls whilst Olly was unluckily ran out for a quality 46. After some late runs and wickets, we finished 163-5 in our 20 overs.

In response, they got off to a steady but slow start, as Freddie Chapman and Sam Robinson applied the pressure. The pressure eventually paid off with Freddie taking 2 deserved wickets in his final over! Aidan Murphy was the next man to take 2 quick wickets in his second over, before Sam Robinson also took 2 wickets in an over the over after that. The final wicket fell to Archie Racey as we completed a thoroughly deserved win, in what was an excellent all round team performance with everyone contributing with the bat or ball.

We now look forward to the Herts League Final on Sunday, with our opponents yet to be decided out of Berkhamsted and Preston!
