It was a very enjoyable evening at BSCC last night, with many spectators watching on as the BSCC U17s put in a fantastic all round performance to beat Sawbridgeworth.
Skipper Benjy Furrer had hoped to bat first, but lost the toss and was asked to bowl. BSCC started off as well as you could hope for with Sawbridgeworth 11-0 after 5 overs in a T20! They did get going after that, with two solid partnerships, however they never got away from BSCC thanks to tight bowling and fielding. Sawbo finished with 94-4 in their 20 overs, with wickets shared by Max Walter, Freddie Chapman, Aidan Murphy and a run out.
In response, BSCC lost Murray Davidson early for 5, before Benjy Furrer took the attack to Sawbo scoring a quick fire 51* retired, off just 28 balls. Aidan Murphy continued the onslaught scoring 30* off 17 balls including the shot of the day, a huge straight six which was nothing more than an extended forward defence. Sam Robinson came in a finished it off with 6* from 2 balls to reach Sawbo’s score in just 8.5 overs.
It was a fantastic all round performance, with all the players contributing to the win.
