U17s v Letchworth

Adam Bassingthwaighte led his team from the front last night compiling an excellent 83 not out including 9 boundaries after opening the batting in our last U17 game of the season. He was supported by Jack Fraser-Andrews and Jack Perman who both made quick 20's and we closed on 155-6 after our 20 overs. Matt Pike and Matthew Foster bowled tightly early on putting Letchworth behind the rate but once Foster removed the opener LBW the batting side became more aggressive. They struggled against the spin of Jared Bassingthwaighte but the key moment was created by Ed Catton who had the opening bat brilliantly caught by keeper Benji Furrer from a skier for a well made 60. Charlie Peace kept a really tight line and deserved his wicket as he bowled 4 overs for only 21 at the death and it was left to Matt Pike to bowl the final over with 24 needed and he proved too quick for their batsmen as they could only manage 3 singles giving us victory by 20 runs.
