A chilly early game against last year's closest rivals Cokenach started with the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat. Catherine and Marie got early wickets to dismiss their openers for 9 runs between them. Their top batter Olivia Rolls came in at number 3 and although caught by Poppy off Marie's bowling, Rolls stayed at the crease due to the 4 free ball rule until she retied at 30 runs. The rest of their fairly young squad clocked up just 12 runs between them but with our extras totalling 29, they finished on 80/5, with further wickets from Catherine, Rhiannon and Megan.
Poppy and Zoe opened the batting for Stortford and stayed at the crease unchallenged with wayward bowling from Cokenach and steady scoring from the girls, the match was won in just 10.3 overs with no loss of wickets.
