A Saturday game is never easy to get on and after struggling to get 9 players between our U15 and U13 squads, we managed to get over to Harpenden with 8 players.
We fielded first and the opposition decided, as they were a development team, they would like to give all their girls the opportunity to bat, so there was some very strange decisions regarding retirement numbers going on, but we rolled with it. Their top batter scored 17 before being dismissed by a catch from Poppy off Marie's bowling. The rest of their order were no match for our girls and we managed an 11 wicket haul: Grace x 2, Marie x 2, Eva x 2, Poppy x 2, Suzie x 1 (catches by Marie, Grace) and Poppy plus 2 run outs. They ended on a score of 97 all out.
With a tiny boundary and fielders who were not as agile as our girls, it looked like easy pickings for the girls. Suzie and Eva opened the batting and both retired after 10 and 14 balls respectively, in came Poppy and Catherine ending our very short innings after just 7.1 overs and the loss of no wickets.
Well done girls - not the strongest opposition but thank you for those who made the game happen as it was looking unlikely on many occasions!
