9 wicket win for U15 girls

Arriving early at Cricketfield Lane for the first of 2 games against Harpenden, the first being against their 2nd team. Stortford won the toss and elected to bowl.

Great opening over by Isabella taking a wicket for just 2 runs. A further 7 wickets were taken: 2 from Lea an including a great wicket maiden, 2 from Zoe, 2 from Kate including a successful appeal for LBW, 1 from Marie and a run out - however there were more runs scored in extras than off the bat with a mixture of wides, no balls and byes adding 44 to the 43 scored by Harpenden's batters - leaving a target of 88 to win.

In stepped Catherine and Marie, our only 2 batters of the innings who were both not out as the bowling of Harpenden was erratic giving us 55 in extras. However Marie scored 20 with 2 fours and Catherine 14 with a four. Some good running and calling to get the all important singles giving us the win after just 12.5 overs.

A positive start to the day. Player of the match Marie for her 20 not out and 7-1 (2.3 economy).
