U15 girls win convincingly vs Berkhamsted

With a place in Finals day at stake, the girls took on Berkhamsted in their second game in a day. Suzy won the toss and elected to bat. Initially tight bowling from Berko restricted Stortford, and suffering from the side effects of treatment for a bee sting Mabel was uncharacteristically out cheaply then a 48 run partnership between Poppy and Elizabeth moved the total along nicely. Poppy out for 20 and then Elizabeth retired on 25, left the scoring to Eva and Saskia 24 and 25 not out respectively. With a final contribution from Suzy we posted a competitive 147-5.
Catherine now on a sub fielder for Mabel, the girls set about defending the total and showed a ruthless streak with Elizabeth bowling the Berko opener twice in successive balls, but free hit rule allowing her to carry on. At half way Berko had only got to 58 for the loss of 2 wickets, and needed to accelerate if they were to win. Stortford needing to keep bowling tight and defend the boundaries. So miserly overs from Suzy, Flo and Malli to finish things well were critical, Berko finishing on 112-7.
Kudos to Amandi for only 2 byes, and great bowling figures from Suzy 1-10, Malli, 1-12 and Elizabeth 3-6.
