U15 Girls beat the rain and St Albans

The Rain fell and everyone was pessimistic about our chances, but thankfully we managed to get the game on albeit with reducing the overs to 15 per side. St Albans choose to bat and started well, and steadily accumulated despite Marie taking a brilliant catch off Mabel's bowling to dismiss one of the St Albans openers. Everyone bowled straight and fielding was generally strong with the odd moment of over exuberance leading to over throws or missed run out opportunities. St Albans finished on 92-3 with a wicket each for Mabel and Saskia.
In reply, Stortford utilised the free hit rules well and got off to a flyer, with 45 scored off the first 4 overs. eventually both Mabel and Elizabeth retiring on 26 each, leaving Saskia and Poppy to see us home with more than 3 overs to spare.
It was great to see the positive attitude and the enthusiasm from the Stortford girls, but a shame that more girls didn't get a bat but a vital win in the chase for the Final. A special mention for Amandi's keeping, with few byes, Marie for that catch and Mabel for wrestling with a bee on our behalf. Player of the Match Elizabeth with 26 no, and 2 overs for 6.
