The Sun shone at Cricketfield Lane as an U15 team depleted due to girls playing for the ladies, took on the team that won the U13 league two years earlier. So with 7 U13s in the side (but a lot of talent in the group still), needed to up their game after recent performances and showed massive improvements in hitting, running between the wickets and alertness in the field.
Batting first Marie got us off to a good start with 21 and Poppy scoring 25 before retiring. Saskia batting down the order then helped us to a competitive but slightly under par 129 with her 26 retired.
In reply Zoe and Tia opened the bowling and only conceded 16 runs with 3 wickets, Zoe 2-7 and Tia 1-6. Then a steady fall of wickets and tight bowling left Harpenden behind the rate at half way. Isabella taking a wicket (1-9). Then a steady fall of wickets but an increase in the run rate kept Harpenden in the game until the telling bowling performance from Saskia won the game with 3 overs the only maiden of the match and 1 wicket for 6. A great win, and importantly good performance keeps the U15s in the hunt for a place in the Finals.
Player of the match Saskia Heard.
Thanks to James for running the game and Lee for scoring.
