U14s out bowl Berkhamsted to secure an unlikely win

Berkhamsted won the toss and decided to field. Stortford promptly lost 6 wickets in the first 6 overs and slumped to 186. They then clawed their way to 203 after 16 overs. The key partnership was then Emelia and Elizabeth who put on 32 without loss, getting to a low but defendable total of 235 - 9. All 9 wickets being bowled.

In reply, Berkhamsted struggled as Stortford managed to bowl even straighter taking 7 wickets in the first 8 overs, one run out and the others bowled. But Berko also scored a few runs so they were 209. the game remained in the balance as Stortford conceded runs but also steadily took wickets, until the highlight of the match when Florence took a Hat trick, one caught and two bowled, to leave Berko on 218 with 4 overs remaining. Straight bowling from Lily (Wright) and successful overs from Elizabeth and Emelia won the game with Berko finishing on 219-15. Everyone took wickets; Emelia taking 3, Elizabeth 2, Suzie 1, Millie 2, Poppy 2, Flo 3 (her hat trick).

Training will focus on the careful balance between defence and attack for our batting, again as we need to keep those straight balls out with solid defensive shots but take every opportunity to score off the wide balls.
