St Albans won the toss and elected to field. After a steady start with only 222 on the board at 16 overs the decisive partnership was between Emily Rollins (14 no) and Emelia Godber (14 no) taking BSCC to a competitive but not large 255 for 4 wickets. Stortford needed to field and bowl well, and so they did with many conceding few runs; Frances MacKinlay 3 overs for 8 runs, Emelia 3 overs for 6 runs, Elizabeth Clune 2 overs for 5 , Kathryn Rollins, 1 for 5, Suzannah Reader 1 for 3, Millie Siggins 1 for 10 but the player of the match was Emily Rollins who took 1 for 3 to add to her runs. The girls supporting their bowling with 4 run outs, with intelligent field positions and smart fielding, making life really difficult for St Albans as they chased a total that kept moving further away finishing on 222 for 9. Frances in particular setting high standards for the girls in the field.
Well done girls and remember those important lessons about fielding positions and the importance of strong fielding to win a match.
We await whether this performance has earned a place at Finals day on the 8th July.
