Outstanding performance by U14 Girls

The U14 Girls faced tough opposition from a Boxmoor team containing 4 county players. They won the toss and elected to field. Opening bats Lotty Hobson and Kathryn Rollins made a commanding start putting on 37 runs for the first 4 overs, 29 (18 and 11 respectively) off the bat. The rest of the team all played their part and importantly lost few wickets, other key run scorers were Emelia Godber scoring 11 and Emily Rollins 10. Finishing on a good 276 for 7 wickets. BSCC girls knew they needed to field well to defend the score and field well they did, 5 runs outs and 2 catches were key to restricting Boxmoor to 239 for 11 wickets. Couple this with an outstanding (player of the match) performance from Lotty Hobson who bowled her 2 overs as two maidens and took three wickets (0-3). Excellent bowling from Emily Rollins (1-3) and Beth Hannant (1-7) and all the girls. The performance was really down to the real grit and determination everyone showed, supporting one another and united in a desire to win the game. The final "champagne moment" was when Amandi Panditha stopped a hard hit shot in the covers, recovered the ball and threw down the stumps with a brilliant direct hit. All that fielding practice definitely paid off!
The girls have tough fixtures at Harpenden and home to St Albans in the coming week to decide where they finish in the league. We need the best possible availability to finish the strongly.
