Penultimate group game for U13 Girls Hawks - a resounding win!

After a bit of a hectic weekend we headed to Old Albanians for our 7th group match.
We were a player short after Imi bravely battled through the cup game on Sunday but then needed some R and R. Get well soon Imi!
OA's were very generous and agreed to lend us a player and for one of our girls to bat twice.
The toss was won by OAs and they chose to field first.
Flo McB (11) and Mattie (6) led the order, followed by some lovely batting by Anastasia (20) and Evie (7). Grace (21) and Mimi (12) made a good pair, followed by Ciara (16) and then Mattie (20) who batted again. There were a total of 16 4s in the innings and strong batting and running displayed by all. Only 3 wickets lost brought our total to a fantastic 351/3.
On to the bowling. Evie took up the keeper gloves for the first 10 overs, followed by Mattie for the second half. Only 11 byes between them. Very well done to both and thanks for stepping up!
Our fielding and bowling was super consistent. 39 extras in total, which will always be a target to lower, and 8 fabulous wickets.
Grace kicked off with a wicket in the first over, followed by Mimi with her first, then Mattie with a great bowl and caught. A wicket maiden for Anastasia followed immediately with a double wicket maiden for Ciara was pretty awesome! A wicket then followed for Flo. The last wicket taken was great. Grace had set the field well, with Evie in a perfect spot for a wonderful catch off Mimi's bowl. We wish we had a camera to capture the moment!
And so OA's finished on 243/8.
The girls rallied so well, kept pushing to the end, despite it being clear the win was in the bag.
Many thanks to parents for juggling/trying to juggle to fill a spot last minute and for James for umpiring and supporting the girls so well as usual.
Last match of the group to come on Monday 3rd. Let's aim high and make it a clean sweep!
