We knew today had the potential to be tough, playing 2 games back to back. Thanks to those girls who were able to play both and power through! The benefits of young legs and enthusiasm won the day!
After about 45 minutes to rest, we welcomed St Albans for our second match of the day.
We won the toss and batted first.
Our batting was again consistent, although the girls took a fair few risks running wise, resulting in 5 wickets lost to run outs! A bit more communication between the pairs may have limited those. Florence, with her third 4 of the day, was the only one to escape losing a wicket! Daisy showed no signs of tiredness, with some fantastic shots finding gaps in the field.
Despite the run outs and thanks to St Albans extras and our reasonable we finished on a decent 293/7.
Once again, our fielding innings was great, despite the majority of girls quite possibly feeling the effects of playing for hours!
The wickets flew, one highlight being Mimi's awesome bowl and catch. Those reflexes!
2 wickets for Anastasia, Grace and Mimi, 1 apiece for Daisy, Mattie and Flo plus a run-out - brought us to a fantastic 10 wickets in total.
Lots of dot balls meant St Albans finished at just 217/10.
Thanks must go to Elsie, playing up from the u11s. What a cracking effort. Thanks Elsie and it was lovely to also welcome Daisy to the squad. With her strong batting, a maiden over and a wicket Daisy earns POM. Well done!
Huge thanks to Joe B for coming along as Umpire. Much appreciated Joe.
