U13 Hawks gaining momentum

Wow...what a muggy Sunday morning to be playing and watching cricket!
Harpenden won the toss and elected to bat first.
Our bowling was perhaps not as on point as it's been in previous matches but it had highlights for sure.
Flo Mack took 2 wickets in her first over, swiftly followed by Flo McB doing the same! 4 wickets down by the end of the 3rd over!
Maddie Alder, kindly playing up for us from the u11s, had an amazing first over taking a clean caught and bowled on her first ball, calmly followed with dot balls. So a wicket maiden for her first over! Well done Maddie!
Mimi followed Maddie with a wicket and from then on I think the heat put the brakes on any more wicket taking!
43 extras given away so next target is to lower those. Harpenden finished on 257/6.
After a quick break, Grace and Flo McB took to the wicket. Grace (17) and Flo (4) making a good start. Then followed a fabulous innings by Daisy and Maddie. From just 19 balls, Daisy notched up a run total of 43, with 9 fours being hit around the ground. Maddie ran well with Daisy and they clocked up 47 as a pair.
We lost 4 wickets in the last 10 overs but it didn't affect the final result, with us finishing on 324/4. Interestingly, Harpenden's extras also totalled 43 and so it was the run scores and wicket taking that won us this game.
POM for this match has to go to Daisy for that impressive batting display. Well done Daisy!
Huge thanks once again to Colin for umpiring for us. Another win in the bag for us, keeping our winning streak intact. 3 more group games left - we're confident we can win those so let's aim for that final!
