Another strong U13 girls performance keeps them top of their group

Evie won the toss as Captain and decided to field first. Once again, we showed strength in our accurate bowling.
The score was kept nice and low for the first 5 overs with Grace taking the first wicket in her first over. St Albans had a very confident batter who then took advantage and over her 5 overs bagged herself an impressive 21 runs.
However our wicket tally crept up steadily after that with Beth taking 2, Grace 2, Evie 2 and Flo McB 2 back-to-back in the final over of the innings, the first being a most impressive bowl and catch! Awesome stuff Flo!
Throughout the innings Wanatsa did really well as WK, stopping some very fast balls and preventing a lot of byes.
St Albans finished on 228/8.

Our batting innings started a little slowly with Grace and Flo picking up just 5 runs between them over the 5 overs. Wanatsa and Beth followed clocking up a strong run score of 19 and 11 respectively, with 2 boundaries each. Florence Mac and Aggie followed with a partnership of 9 and finally Evie and Mattie with a partnership of 16, taking our run total to a comfortable 60.
(compared to St Albans 48). We also lost 6 wickets throughout the innings.
Our strength in this game, as has been the case in our other recent games, was definitely our bowling accuracy (we gave away just 20 runs in wides and no balls, compared to St Albans who gave away 57).
One thing to work on perhaps is keeping the energy up in the field, it was a little quiet again today.
The opposition's player of the match was Wanatsa and we have to agree. She did a very solid job as keeper and produced a run score of 19 not out. Well done Wanatsa!
