U13 girls win comfortably at Hitchin

Following on from the disappointing loss at Radlett the girls started, and continued throughout the game, with confidence.
Florence, as Captain, won the toss and chose to field first.
Their bowling was pretty steady, slightly more wides than in recent games perhaps but plenty of wickets kept Hitchin's score nice and low.
Beth, Grace and Ella all got 2 wickets each with Flo and Sami one apiece. Hitchin finished their innings on 227 for 8.
Fielding was pretty tight today with great communication between them. Lovely to hear them all encourage and motivate each other.
Again Cerys did well as keeper.
We had a nice email from the opposition after the game who commented on how well we fielded.
A quick break before Cerys and Beth went out to bat. Hitchin were a younger squad which showed in their bowling accuracy. This did mean that it was quite tricky to get a decent run score. However, all the girls ran brilliantly at every opportunity...some slightly hair raising ones for us watching, but there were no run outs so their tenacity paid off. We lost 6 wickets in total leaving us at a winning 279 for 6.
Today's game showed the girls really working well as a team and their confidence is growing with each match they play.
Today's POM goes to Ella for her 3 great overs bowling. 4 dots and a wicket in her first, a maiden over in her second and a wicket in her third. Nicely done!
