Superb start to the League matches!

A lovely summer afternoon saw the first of the girls' league matches at home against Hitchin.
Mattie as Captain rallied the girls, won the toss and elected to field first.
Once again Beth kicked the game off in style with a wicket off her first ball. A confident appeal for LBW was given. The bowling overall was vastly better this week - much more accuracy giving away only 6 wides and 3 no balls. The wicket tally was as follows Beth(2), Grace(2), Ella(1) and Flo Mack(1). Fantastic keeping from Cerys once again helped Hitchin finish on only 224/6, despite them having some very strong batters.
As with our bowling, the batting was also more confident. Only losing 3 wickets in total. Strong batting from Beth(12) and Saoirse(6) started us off. Evie(4) and Mattie(7) followed, then Grace(12) and Flo(10). Ella(2) and Cerys(6) finished to give us a respectable 59 run total.
All in all it was a great game to watch. The girls were more vocal, encouraging each other which was lovely to see. Hopefully this game will have given them heaps of confidence. Even the opposition said their bowling as a team was the best he'd seen for long time. They should all be very proud.
Player of the match, given by Joe, was Beth for her awesome first wicket and her confidence running to take every opportunity to raise the run tally. Well done Beth.
