The U13 girls travelled to Saffron Walden on a very hot Monday evening to play round 3 of the national T20 cup.
BSCC won the toss and elected to field. Once again we showed our strength and depth in our bowling with all 8 girls bowling at least one over.
We got off to a great start with Mattie taking the wicket of their opener for a duck. Wickets then followed for Emilia (to stop the charge of their excellent batter), Ella and Grace and one further from a super side-on throw from Emilia for a run-out.
Some great wicket keeping from Grace and Evie – who were keeping for the first time with Imi being away.
Saffron Walden ended on a competitive 106/5 after 20 overs.
After a quick drinks break Daisy and Anastasia opened the batting against some strong bowling from Saffron Walden. All those who batted did a great job - taking runs where they could and blocking the balls on the stumps. Credit goes to:
- Anastasia who was hit with a no ball to the chest but battled on!
- Ciara who ended on 16 not out from 11 balls
- Evie who was striking well before there was some confusion over a hit wicket
- and last but not least Daisy who ended on a brilliant 39, including four boundaries and nearly making it through the entire innings!
Another great team performance – well done to all the girls.
Thanks to James for umpiring and to all the parents who travelled to Saffron Walden and had a late return home!
Thriplow next in the regional quarter finals will be a tough test so lets keep the energy up in the field and the extras to a minimum!
