U13 girls beaten by Broxbourne in summer league

On a roasting summer evening the girls travelled to Broxbourne for their second summer league match.

Broxbourne won the toss and elected to bat first.

There was some great bowling from Grace and Ciara (3 wickets in 2 overs!) but the Broxbourne batters were strong and it wasn’t our day for wickets. Broxbourne took the opportunity to hit the boundary on any loose balls and add extra runs on some mis-fields. After retiring 3 of their batters on 25 and after adding our extras, Broxbourne ended on an impressive score of 191-3.

It was always going to be a tough test to chase down this score and the Broxbourne bowling was strong. Mattie and Immy were our highest batting scorers and Scarlett ended her innings not out. We ended our innings on 52.

A great experience for the girls to line up against some fast and accurate bowling and some things to work on for next time – more communication in the field (it was very quiet!) and defending our stumps when facing a ball on the stumps.
