U13 girls head to head friendly against U12 boys

After the disappointment of their final league game against Letchworth being conceded the u12 boys were happy to give the girls some match practice.
Shamelessly borrowing the words of Joe Bunyan, who very kindly gave up his Sunday afternoon to run the game.

'Today was such a brilliant experience for them - they should be really proud. For a couple of them it was their first BSCC match. For many it was their first against boys (who’ve been playing longer). Most of the girls were excited but scared before the game.

It takes huge amounts of courage to play cricket at any age - not least at a younger age when fear is a major factor (fear of ball when batting, fear of bowling badly in front of so many people). So moments like Evie bowling spin for the first time and determination to take on the fast bowlers, Scarlett and Emelia being super aggressive and brave with the bat, Grace & Mattie tearing into the batters, Beth and Cerys taking phenomenal catches, Kaiyaa getting a 3-for and nearly a hat trick, Aggie facing down one of the best bowlers and refusing to be knocked over again, Maya keeping wicket for first time and standing brave and firm when batting, brothers and sisters playing against each other for first time ... These are all massive moments in their development and confidence.

Spirit of the game and respect between the sides was fantastic. Two captains Chris and Grace led by example.

Games like this - where there is so much learning - are what cricket is all about!'

Not sure what else can be added to that other than huge thanks to Geoff and Ben for rallying the boys, thanks to the boys for a fantastic competitive game and to Sarge for some inspirational talk off pitch.
