U13 girls crash out of the Lady Taverners Cup

Having progressed well in the previous round we were optimistic about facing a notoriously strong Woolpit side, travelling all the way from Suffolk to play us. Stortford won the toss and elected to field. After two early wickets from Marie and Saskia pegged Woolpit back to 5-2, Two outstanding Woolpit batters came together and put on 121 for the 3rd wicket and scored 40 and 58 respectively. Woolpit finished on 152-4 from their 20 overs.
In reply after a promising start Stortford went from 21 for no wicket to 37-3 and then 68 all out. The girls underlined the work we need to do in defending our stumps as it seemed all Woolpit needed to do was bowl straight to get a wicket. A very disappointing outcome and performance but perhaps some harsh lessons learned for all which is all part of the girls cricket journey and education.
