With the U13 girls table being tight at the top, Stortford girls needed to beat Harpenden 1 to be sure to get to the finals. They won the toss and chose to field. Harpenden scored well and defended their stumps only losing one wicket whilst accumulating 270-1. Pick of the bowlers being Tia with 1-4.
In reply Stortford's batters stalled as they struggled to get bat on ball leaving them in a competitive position at the half way point, but then wickets fell leaving Stortford short of the total in a disappointing finish. Pick of the Batters was Catherine with 9 not out.
The lessons for the girls is to keep working on the quality of their batting, to resist the temptation to swing across the line at the ball, an play with a straight bat especially to a straight ball. Work to be done for the rest of the summer in training.
