Excellent cup win for the U13 girls

Melton won the Toss and elected to field. Stortford lost Marie in the first over but then Poppy and Alicia came together and put on a crucial 59 run partnership. When Poppy was out for 15 Alicia accelerated and made an excellent 52, until she was bowled. Others contributed and fought hard to get us to 130-6. At the half way point the total felt slightly under par and wickets would be key to win the game.
An early wicket from Catherine pegged back the visitors but brought their strongest player to the crease, who scored an excellent 52, putting Stortford under pressure until she was crucially bowled by Marie. At that point the momentum shifted to Stortford and Zoe, Marie and Emma polished off the Melton tail to win the game. Zoe (3-15) and Marie (2-4) staring with the ball. A great win for Stortford who hopefully can put a run together in the cup with more similar performances. More batters will need to contribute if we are to continue to post competitive scores.
