Bishop’s Stortford ladies had a series of selection headaches, due to a number of key player’s falling ill in the lead up to Sunday’s matches. The loss of New Zealand keeper and opening batter Jessie Hollard, leading to the forced 1st Team debut for 14 year old 2nd team keeper Elsie Lowe against Wanstead and Snaresbrook CC at Cricketfield Lane. Stortford were asked to field, and Catherine Clune got them off to a great start with two early wickets including a confidence building catch for Lowe behind the stumps. Stortford continued to chip away with wickets, with best bowling being Abbey Tomlin 3-38 and Clune 3-28 after she dismissed the final Wanstead batter to leave a total of 164 all out.

In reply, Captain Matilda Prince and Madi Arthur put Wanstead to the sword as they chased at a run rate close to 10 per over, Prince hitting the winning runs to complete her first century of the season following her set back of breaking her thumb earlier in the season, Arthur finishing on 52 not out, Stortford winning by 10 wickets and setting their campaign back on track as they seek to defend their league title.
