The under 9’s overcame the excitement of the first game of the season to ease to a comfortable victory over an inexperienced Sawbridgeworth team.
Bishops Stortford lost the toss and were asked to bowl first.
Felix, Austin, Sebastian, Olly and Max, who took an excellent catch in the field, were all making their debut and kept the bowling relatively straight for this age group and so early in the season.
Despite a steady start from their opening pair, Sawbridgeworth were limited to an achievable 227 runs at the close of the innings.
The experienced trio of Brandon, Bradley and top scorer Freddie led the run chase, all reaching double figures with the bat. Calling and running between the wickets was mostly sensible and the team were able to capitalise on some casual fielding to finish on 334 without loss.
Well done under 9’s. A great start to the season but tougher games will surely lie ahead.
