U9 away defeat at Hertford

BSCC U9s crashed to defeat against a reasonably well organised Hertford.
After an anxious lead up to match time to see if rain would prevent play it started quite positively.
The old hands bowled 3 tidy overs each, at a cost of Ben Foster 14, Andrew Barber 13, Bertie Warnes 12 and Luca Ollandini 11, taking the only wicket for Stortford.
Novice bowling was very expensive and slowed the game.
Batting was adequate at the start of the order, but some of the boys were too slow to run after striking the ball, again slowing the pace of the match.
The best running partnership was at the tail, where our highest run scorer was Jack Eley with 9 runs, and the only others with a positive run rate were Bertie, Ben and Luca.
We lost 4 wickets, 3 bowled and 1 run out.
As we can see, if we just polish a couple of our techniques, bowling straight and running after hitting the ball, then we would most definitely have won this match.
Thanks to all the parents for delivering the players, especially Anthony Foster for scoring and his general expertise on cricket.
Alex Palmer was an excellent Coach and we would very much like to see him again.
