U10 came out second best in a close encounter with Hodddesdon. Choosing to field first, U10 were not quite able to find a consistent line and length with the ball, often allowing the pressure to ease with an all too occasional loose delivery. Brandon and Charlie both took a wicket to add to 3 run outs as Hoddesdon closed their innings on 276/5.
In reply, Zach tapped an entertaining 16 runs but was unfortunate to be run out attempting a quick single. Charlie found the boundary as did Freddie, who biffed a fine unbeaten 12 runs at the start of the innings. The darkening clouds and fading light provided final pair Ibrahim and Archie with the most challenging batting conditions of the evening as they came to crease needing 20 runs to win. Both batted bravely and positively but couldn't quite get over the line as the Hoddesdon bowlers kept their nerve in what was a very entertaining finale.
Unlucky U10!
