U10 lost to a young and spirited St Margaretsbury team on a dry but cool evening in Stanstead Abbotts. Having won the toss and choosing to bowl, U10 struggled to hit a consistent line and length, conceding 58 extras in wides and no balls. Angus got it right with his final delivery of the opening over, getting one through the gate to hit middle stump. He later reacted quickly to run out the striker off his own bowling. But they were the only 2 wickets to tumble as St Margaretsbury compiled a healthy innings score of 300/2.
U10 did their best to chase down the target. Seb, Theo and George all found the boundary despite the slow outfield. But some high risk run taking and indecisive calling cost too many wickets, leaving U10 on 263/7 at the close.
The weather has interrupted the start of the season for U10 and it may take a game or two for the players to find their rhythm. Bowling practice and running between the wickets could be on the training plan in the coming weeks!
