BSCC - 298/3
Herts CC -238/9
In a fantastic all round performance, the Under 10 team won by 60 runs away at Hertford. It was an encouraging display in which the team showed that they had learned some valuable lessons from previous matches to improve in all facets of the game.
There was some excellent straight bowling and attacking fielding resulting in 9 wickets - 6 bowled, 1 hit wicket and 2 run outs. It was particularly pleasing to get the run outs as the first 'fielding wickets' this season. Pick of the Bowlers was Teddy with 3 wickets for 4 runs off 3 overs, with Lucas, Alfie, Rupert and Charlie all taking a wicket each. Aaron bowled some excellent deliveries and had the dot balls. Credit also goes to Iestyn for keeping wicket extremely well (& bravely) throughout the game and limiting any extra runs given to the opposing team
When it was our turn to bat, we looked like getting the runs fairly comfortably. Some notable shots were two pulled 6's from Rupert and Iestyn (the latter almost hitting his mum in the process) and an picture perfect cover drive from Arron. It was most pleasing to see shot selection improving , with every player showing off better defensive technique to balls on target. So much so that in total we only lost 3 wickets - much improved from previous games.
Lots to take into the next Hardball game
