The U10s had a really enjoyable friendly match at Sawbridgeworth on Wednesday night, with several players making their hardball debuts.
A slow innings on a low bouncing wicket was initially ignited by Harry with three boundaries. Oliver S then followed this up with a top score for the team in hardball this season of 32, including 5 fours and 1 (fantastic straight) six. 249 looked defendable given that Sawbridgeworth also had some less experience players in the team.
Sawbridgeworth started slowly and were then pushed into negative territory by our season's first five wicket haul from Henry, including a triple wicket maiden. However, they managed to get a little momentum after that, running very well between the wickets and putting pressure on our fielders. Ben took a wicket in the penultimate over leaving Sawbrigeworth needing 11 off the last. They needed three off the last ball and managed it after a throw at the stumps missed.
It was a really exciting game with some great performances. Hopefully the team will have gained from the experience.
