The U10s won the toss and opted to field first. Sawbridgeworth batted steadily and looked after their wickets. However, I did feel like we must have used up all of the wicket balls in our midweek game as on numerous times we beat the batsmen with excellent balls that just missed the stumps. There were also several balls that went up into the air but not near a fielder. Veer did pick up an excellent wicket with a yorker, but it was our only one. The team fielded well and backed each other up but Sawbrigeworth also ran very well finding twos and threes on a large pitch. They ended on 279.
We needed to get 5 an over and Oliver and Veer managed that batting in the first pair. The middle two pairs faced some good bowling and ran well but we lost 4 wickets in those 8 overs. This left Henry and Rohan needing to get 33 from the last 4 overs. They played very sensibly and assisted by a couple of no balls were nicely placed scoring 17 off their first two overs. Unfortunately they could not quite keep that going and lost a wicket trying to keep up the chase, falling just 11 short in the end.
Overall it was a really good match and with just a few tweaks and a little luck bowling the result could have been different.
