Comfortable win for young BSCC team over Hertford 2s

Excellent bowling and fielding (including a run out) performance stifled Herts batting with 238/4. This was an inexperienced team with five 9 year olds and they all coped very well.

We had a good start thanks mainly to Matt's strong hitting again and the others chipped in well when required. After the 3rd pair finished, we were 2 runs behind their total, so no real pressure for Shaurya and Daniel. Even so, they batted positively, took the singles, dispatched the bad balls for 4s and all-in-all showed some class!

We only had one run-out, an unlucky (for us!) direct throw, but otherwise we are starting to take our Sunday training into matches, which is promising.

Like us, Welyn Garden City have won all their hardball matches and we will play them twice next week, so we need our A game to finish top. This means facing a lesser team at a closer venue in the playoffs on the 7th July. If we do get through, the finals will be at Sawbo on the 14th July - please put it in your diaries!
