On a roasting hot day, BSCC U10s won the toss and decided to bowl this time.
Daniel started the bowling aggressively, with 2 quick wickets in his first over. With further tight bowling from Cameron, Ed and Dylan, the first pair only managed 4 runs. The second pair finished on 205 with Sam and Will picking a wicket each. The third pair got 207, with Cameron getting a wicket this time. The final pair put on some resistance, only to be spoiled by Daniel picking up his 3rd wicket in the final over. Sawbo ended up on a below par 225/5.
In reply, BSCC started slow, with Sam getting bowled and Cameron running himself out with the total on 202. Ed and Dylan also had a couple of run outs, running when the ball straight to a fielder - something we need to work on! However, a couple of solid blows and a 4 by Dylan kept us on track at 213 runs at the half way stage. Luckily, Will and Felix did not have to score a single run thanks to the opposition bowling, who gave away 28 runs in extras!! Daniel and Stanley went in last as usual, but with no pressure enjoyed a 21 partnership to leave BSCC victorious on 262/4.
A comfortable win in the end on a cracking cricket playing day - the pitch, setting and the whether was just glorious. We can't get too complacent as tougher opponents may be just around the corner and therefore still need to work on running/calling and field positions; walking in and backing up.
The next match is an incrediball home game against Broxbourne on Wednesday.
