This was the first hardball match for the BSCC U10s team and all the players put in a very strong performance. Note, that 4 out of the 8 players are eligible to play for the U9s team!
BSCC lost the toss and Hertford asked us to bat first. Harrison probably got the best ball of the match first up; an in-swinging yorker which he unfortunately missed losing the only wicket of the innings. Sam & Harrison put together 18 runs, Cameron & Ossie 17 runs, Ollie & Harry 16 runs and finally Daniel & Stanley 39 runs in their 4-over innings each. Both Daniel and Stanley played two glorious and text-book boundries each and took cheeky 1s and 2s to push the score to credible 290/1.
Unfortunately, Hertford struggled with their batting, thanks to the BSCC bowling and fielding quality. They lost 4 wickets to Daniel, Ossie, Cameron and Ollie, and ran themselves out twice. Their score was 199 before their last pair came to bat! Hertford ended with only 213/6 off their 16 overs. Stanley was tidy behind the wickets and did a great job captaining - not easy to wear all that gear in such hot conditions!
No rest though as our next hard ball game is tomorrow at home against Sawbo!
