On a gloomy day, Braughing allowed BSCC to bat first due to a late arrival!
BSCC started well enough with some big hits from Freddie and steady stuff from Nicoli, but, two quick wickets meant we were on 214 runs when the débutante brothers Rubin and Cassidy walked in. They both played nice looking strokes, but Cassidy missed one, so the partnership was 15 runs. Ollie and Will Sharman, also hit some nice shots, but again Will missed a straight one resulting in an 18 run partnership. With Stanley arriving late and Tom itching to get going, there were real fireworks when these two got in! Four boundaries and lots of cheeky runs and a partnership of 28/1 gave BSCC a comfortable 275/5 score.
Braughing struggled against our accurate bowling and energetic fielding, with their first 3 pairs only scoring 24/5, with a single wicket a-piece for Ruben, Nicoli and Will, plus a run-out by Nicoli and stumping by Stanley. But, they also had two big guns up their sleeves, with Joe hitting some massive shots, which would be sixes in a couple of years! But hats off to Ollie and Joe for keeping cool and controlling the onslaught, and limiting Braughing to only 251/5.
Maybe a bit premature, but if we keep this momentum in the latter part of the season, we should comfortably make the incrediball play-off stage - fingers crossed!!
