Whitehead Cup (Tring Park Cricket Club)

Our first game was against wheathamsted we lost 209 to 281. Jake anders scored a 4 in the first innings and was our strongest scorer in this match. Austin took a run then was bowed out by Aidin on wheathamsted. Austin was bowled out a second time in the second innings followed. By two bowls out in the forth. The other team had strong bowlers. Elizabeth gave us a good three runs as did George. Five out of our eight bowlers did not give any wides. Jake strongest player.

Our second game was against Tring we lost 214 v 265. Opened by Jake and Austin. Jake was bowled out first innings. Then scored a brilliant four in the second innings. Two excellent fours by JP in the third and fourth innings. Harry B got some firm runs but sadly we lost Eliot out sixth innings. Our strongest player in that game was JP.
There was only one wide given by our bowlers in this game. The other team were more just more confident with their batting. They scored eleven 4's and two 6's.

Our third game was against lever stock we won 259 v 235. Our only win of the day. Elizabeth score a very impressive 4 in the second innings. But Elliot delivered a hat trick of fours in the forth over! Jake earned a four as did Harvey. Player of that match was Elliot. In bowling there were too many wides given by Stortford but clawed back by some bowl outs by Eliot and Austin and Harvey.

We finished third in group A and had to play the Third for group b. Where we lost 244 to 252. The other team consisted of three boys four girls. Harry gain a four and a single run in first over, unlucky for Elizabeth she was bowled out.,They had us on height and speed. Strongest batsman was Elliot with two fours and a six in the forth over. Jake was the only other player to bat a four. When went to bowl we bowled in total 9 wides. Which really could have cost us the game as there was only eight points in it.,JP knocked two out!! The other team got 5 fours' and one 6!

Overall the team playing gained strength throughout the day. Encouraging each other, we need to show determination to play to the end whatever the result. It was a long day and bishops Stortford players should be proud of themselves and also be prepared to practice more between games so we can improve on the straight bowls.
