I will try to focus on the positives in a game of very poor quality from both sides. George opened with James and hit his top score of the season with 9 runs but the only other players to hit a boundary each was Matthew and Toby. Only the opposition's 20 wides ensured we reached a poor 244-5 in our 16 overs. Unfortunately we managed a total of 24 wides and 2 no balls gifting them 52 runs and helping them to a total of 272 for the loss of only 1 wicket taken by George. The bowling from Samuel, Thomas and Jack showed considerable improvement as they bowled straighter than the rest. The most concerning feature was the boys showed more enthusiasm and energy in the pre-game warm up than they did on the pitch - we need to develop a competitive edge and team spirit in our matches rather than just going through the motions.
