U10 Hardball v Hertford

On a windy, bleak evening Hertford chose to bat first but were never allowed to score freely as we bowled very well even with a wet slippery ball. Toby and Adam conceded only 8 runs from their overs with Adam taking a wicket. Sam followed claiming 2-12 and Luca was difficult to get away. Tate produced a great throw to run out another batsman and then Edward and Thomas kept the runs well under control. Matthew bowled 2 tight overs for 7 runs before Thomas finished off by taking 2 wickets in the final over reducing the opposition to 239-6.
Toby and Adam started the reply with some confident running only spoilt when Toby was bowled having a slog! Sam and Luca batted cautiously and were knocked back by 2 run outs, one with an excellent direct hit from cover point. Thomas and Edward (22 not out) then set about the bowling accumulating 46 runs in their 4 overs leaving us comfortably ahead so Matthew and Tate were able to cruise to victory with few alarms.
This was a great team effort with all 8 boys contributing to the win - bowling straight, taking catches, a run out and some positive batting. Hopefully they can take this level of performance into the second half of the league season.
