U11B Win at Braughing

The U11Bs got a good win at Braughing. We were put in on a pitch with a challenging slope. Despite losing a couple of early wickets James and Henry managed to put on 16 with four boundaries and some intelligent running. Alex and Arthur continued to bat calmly and put on another 11 as the second pair. Jakub and Ben then increased the tempo with a great partnership of 30 including three boundaries for Jakub (and no wickets).
The final pair of Sam and Joseph had to face the best Braughing bowling at the end of the innings and did well to come out roughly level par.

I was really happy to see a whole innings without a run out which is a massive improvement. Now we need to push that skill a bit harder and find more twos and quick singles.

The bowling started very tightly. Wickets took a little while to come but an excellent direct hit from Joseph and a wicket from James kept the first pair to just 6. Joseph followed this up with two more wickets against the second pair and Henry got another direct hit run out. The wickets then dried up for a little while and Braughing's last batting pair needed 34 off 25 balls. After a boundary from his first ball against that pair Samuel hit back with two wickets in two balls essentially giving Braughing a mountain to climb. Another wicket from Henry in the next over followed by tight overs from Jakub and Arthur then essentially finished the game and despite some boundaries of the last few balls Braughing were 20 short.

Ground fielding was excellent. There may not have been a single overthrow. All in all a really convincing performance and a significant improvement from the start of the season. Well done guys!
