St Margaretsbury won the toss and chose to bowl. For the first time this seasons we didn't start calmly and had an unfortunate run out off the first ball. We then had three more and were 16 for 4 (all run outs) at the end of the 4th over. Adi and Ryan then played very well to steady the innings with a partnership of 23 putting us 38 for 4 after then overs. Ryan was bowled in the 11th over, but Rupert and Joseph S supported Adi well for the next few overs until he retired. Sam T and Isaan then batted through the last few overs and the team made it to 73/7. This was a little low but I was really pleased with how the middle and lower order had batted the overs and given us something to bowl at.
We needed to bowl tightly and field really well and the boys gave it a great go. Ridley took two wickets and Isaan, Ryan and Rupert one each. Sam T took a great catch at backward square leg. We also managed two run outs. The game finished in the 14th over but we were only two wickets away from pulling off something of an escape. There were missed run outs and catches (none easy) which could have made the difference but for the first time this season we could not quite hold on to the chances.
Special mentions to Ridley and Adi who were the captains for the day and did a great job. Adi held the team together with the bat and Ridley nearly sparked a come back with his wickets at the end.
