The U11As won a tight game with Hertford on Monday evening.
We batted first and made 83 for 8. Harry top scored with 26 not out including three boundaries. We lost wickets through the innings and might have been bowled out but Isaan and Ben did well as the last pair to bat through the last three overs and add what would later be a crucial extra ten runs.
Hertford made a strong start batting and put on 39 for the loss of just one wicket in the first seven overs, but after the retirement of one of their openers for 26 we started bowling more at the stumps and began to take wickets. Arthur got the first, followed by Jamie. Then Ridley bowled a fantastic double wicket maiden with full straight bowling that the Hertford lower order couldn't keep out. Further wickets for Harry and Aidan and then a fantastic direct hit run out for Ryan left Hertford needing 11 from their last pair. The next over bowled by Isaan saw a boundary off the first ball, then 4 dots, and off the final delivery a wicket to finish the game. We had taken eight wickets for 30 runs in 9 overs.
It was a tenacious fight back and a real team effort!
