The U11As won their first match of the season with a strong all-round performance at Broxbourne. We were put into bat and lost an early wicket but then a very strong partnership from Rohan (25 off 17) and Adi (25 off 23) set a fantastic platform for the rest of the team. (Winter training paying off!) Broxbourne came back to take more wickets but thanks to 21 from Ryan in a solid stand with Joseph H we reached 92 for 5.
The bowling was accurate, the team supported each other well in the field, and they never let Broxbourne get going. Only one batsman made it to double figures with Rupert, Ridley, Ryan and Joseph H all picking up a wicket each. Thomas took two in consecutive balls as did Adi who finished with three wickets in total. However, all of the bowlers kept it tight, and Sam and Rohan conceded notably few byes. We came one wicket away from bowling them out but finished with a winning margin of 27 runs.
