U11A Lose QF with West Herts

The U11As won the toss and batted. Some quality bowling and excellent catching in the early overs meant that we lost 4 early wickets, although we had scored at a decent rate and were 33 for 5 off seven overs. Henry (19) and Veer (21) then did a great job of stabilising things and putting a partnership together. When Henry was out trying to up the scoring we were 64 for 6 off 13. Joseph (10) supported Veer into the last over and we got the score to 84 for 8.

We have defended lower scores this season and made a decent start with some tight early overs and a wicket for Jamie getting one of the openers to glove a sharp bouncer. Thomas took a second wicket for the team with is first over but West Herts had some very hard hitting batsmen and we were not able to limit the scoring in the middle overs. After the drinks break the strong batters had retired and we tightened the game up really well conceding only 6 runs with a wicket for Adi in 3 overs. Another 20 runs and the pressure might have told but a couple of big hits were enough for get West Herts over the line.

The team's effort was great and they pushed it really hard to the end and supported each other throughout. Also looking back at the U11A season we have had lots of different players contribute across the games batting, bowling and fielding. (All bodes well for U12s next year.)
