BSCC Under 11's posted their highest total of the season (158 for the loss of just 1 wicket), in what was a comfortable win on the road in Letchworth yesterday. Having been asked to bat by our hosts, openers Lewis Greenhill (30 retired) and Tom Foden (25 retired) set the perfect platform for the team. Both batted with superb composure, backed up with some superb running between the wickets, as the fielding side struggled to gain any control at all. Alex Burnet, Toby Ricketts, Byron Scott and Ciaran Wilson then all batted sensibly, to ensure the hosts would need 159 to win, at almost 8 an over to achieve victory.
The Letchworth run chase never really got going, thanks to some excellent bowling from Thomas Anderson (3 overs, 1 wicket for 10 runs), Henry Lowe (3 overs, 1 wicket for 12 runs) and Daniel Pickup (3 overs, 2 wickets for 14 runs). Thomas Appelby also did an outstanding job behind the stumps, ensuring that very few extras were conceded. Finishing on 87 for 7 wickets, the BSCC victory margin was a handsome 71 runs.
Overall this was a thoroughly convincing performance. Particularly impressive - aside from the batting performance - was (1) our energy whilst fielding; (2) the 'always positive' encouragement; (3) the outstanding backing up in the field and 'just as importantly' (4) the respect and attitude shown towards our opposition, especially considering our huge victory margin.

(1) Highest total of season (158)
(2) Highest opening partnership (87 runs)

(4) Biggest margin of victory (71 runs)
