U11s T2's skipper (and birthday boy) Thomas Cunningham chose to bowl first on a belter of a batting track at BSCC. Great early bowling with wickets for Sam B, Chris D and Harry F left Hertford on 22 for 3 after 8 overs. Hertford then staged a mini revival in part due to bowling too short, bowling too many extras and the balls inability to go to fielders when hit in the air! Additional wickets for Harry F and Sam B and one for William H could not prevent Hertford from reaching 87 for 7 after 20 overs. Despite scoring 11 off the first over we then lost 2 quick wickets! However initially Charlie and then Sam B and Thomas C batted with real maturity. They defended the straight ones and scored off the shorter / wider ones. They also ran really well between the wickets and as their confidence grew Sam B scored heavily both side of the wickets and Thomas C hit some belting straight drives for 4s! After Sam retired for an excellent (25*) Harry F came in and continued his excellent late season form to belt a quick 13* to seal victory. But as they walked off in victory the broadest smile belonged to birthday boy and captain Thomas C with his 22 not out a perfect birthday present!
3 wins out of 3 for the U11s T2 means they progress to the next stage and it's a great reward for the 21 kids in the squad who have all played at least one of the league matches along the way. Well done!
