U11's WIN AT REED WITH 'MATURE' DISPLAY

Max Foster and Austen Greenhill put in stunning ‘man of the match’ performances to ensure it was 3 wins out of 3 for the under 11 section this week.

Having lost the toss, our hosts Reed opted to bat and they started extremely well, sitting pretty at 40-1 after 7 overs. We gave away far too many extras in what was a sloppy start to our fielding performance and a big score seemed very likely. A big turnaround, however, was imminent.

Excellent line and length from Daniel Pickup, Austen Greenhill and Ciaran Wilson helped to turn the tide, but it was Max Foster who really swung the tie in BSCC’s favour. He picked up 4 crucial wickets in his 2 overs, in what was one of the bowling spells of the season.

The hosts were therefore bowled out for just 70, thanks also to an excellent over of spin from Lewis Greenhill, 2 difficult catches (by Max Mason & Ciaran Wilson) and good work behind the stumps (Kieran WP).

Run chases are generally never easy, especially against a strong bowling attack such as Reed’s. However Austen Greenhill (25 not out retired) batted with incredible poise and patience, in what was simply a batting masterclass. Despite the loss of an early wicket, he defended the straight balls and ‘upped the tempo’ when needed, to guide his team to a 7 wicket victory.

He was very ably ‘backed up’ at the crease by Max Mason and Ethan Hill, as BSCC ran out comfortable winners with 2 overs to spare.

Fellow coach Geoff and I have both been 'extremely impressed' with some of the improvements recently, especially batting wise. In 3 matches this week, the Under 11’s have lost only ONLY 8 WICKETS in over 50 OVERS of batting. What 'a joy' from the coaches perspectives. Keep up the great work boys and continue to progress.
