Despite a delayed start due to the M25 the 8-a-side team played a very impressive North Enfield team last night. We contrived the "toss" to allow their delayed players to bat as and when they arrived. The runs flowed steadily and we struggled to stem the flow of runs and did not take many wickets. Conran bowled well taking a wicket and conceding just one run from two overs. There were also wickets for Henry and Barney. The fielding was generally good and Alex did well behind the stumps on his wicket keeper debut. 270-3 was an imposing total but we didn't at any stage look like getting there. Daniel and Dylan struggled to score but only lost 1 wicket as they generally defended well. After that however we lost wickets at an alarming rate to the best bowling team I have seen in any match this season. We did manage to get back above the 200 mark thanks to a last pair flurry of runs from Alex and Ed but we were very much second best. However two main points here: 1. North Enfield do not have an 11-a-side team...so this is their "A" team and best players. Secondly our best aspect of play on the night was our running between the wickets....real positivity from several pairs and showed that the training exercises are working!
