On a damp Sunday morning u11s Sloggers slipped to a defeat despite some positives. Batting was much improved in terms of playing the straight ball. There were some great examples of calling and running between the wickets especially from Will T. Runs were however hard to come by with the exception of Henry B at the top of the innings with 9 and Will T at the end with 8. It was pleasing to see the boys protecting their wicket with the exception of one over where we surrendered 3 wickets in 6 balls including a run out where we attempted a run to a wicket keeper standing up! :)
259-4 felt a little below par and so it proved. There was some good bowling and Harry N bowled a beauty which pitched on leg and hit off for one of his two wickets. However we were a little sloppy at times in the field and bowled way too many extras…..well over 45 of their runs came from wides and no-balls. Despite some good bowling toward the end we were well beaten, but as ever it’s another game, more experience and a better idea of how we can improve.
