April showers finally arrived in May today as u11s Sloggers lacked a bit of firepower in freezing conditions at a windswept Leventhorpe. Sawbo won the toss and batted. Debutant Henry Bristow took a wicket on his first outing and all Stortford bowlers bowled well despite a fierce cross wind. Wickets all round for Dylan, Chris, Ed and Joe (2). However one Sawbo batter was a cut above and plundered 23...by some distance the highest score of the match. Chasing 248 Stortford struggled to score. A mix of tentative running between the wickets and batters not quite managing to miss the fielders made for slow progress. In the end we fell 15 runs short (which shows how important that one innings was for Sawbo). As ever some good stuff tonight and things to work on. I hope the boys have thawed out by now ;)
